OK, before you do anything else, watch this documentary on Saudi Arabia right now.
OK... done? Watched it? Great.
Now, having watched it, you don't need to tell me how much of a threat Saudi is to regional peace. They continue to support terrorism and create death. So I'll give a bit of my own take on the so called attempt to "return" to moderate Islam in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudis tried to control extremism - not end it - when it started threatening themselves in the 2000s. As we saw with Syria, they are still perfectly happy to support terrorists outside the country. MBS' rise to power has not stopped this. Now, whether he sincerely does want to reduce extremism in Saudi or even if he is capable of doing so are another matter. But the fact remains to me, that when the push comes to shove in middle eastern geopolitics, terrorism will remain Saudi's tool of choice. With or without this reality, MBS does remain a threat and I hope Iran's military-political planners are considering this.
But this further reinforces to me that Iran is fighting the good fight. The Saudi regime must be opposed and fought in order to protect Iran's stability, safety and prosperity. Their terrorism must continue to stay outside our borders, where it must be destroyed.
